Stefania Fernandez crowned Miss Universe 2009

Before today, I had never head of Stefania Fernandez.

The 18-year-old stunned the world by becoming the 58th winner of the 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

Stefania Fernandez win gave her country of Venezuela its 6th title in the international beauty pageant.

Fernandez who is a brunette, was selected out of five finalists chosen from the total field of 83 contestants.
